Karl has been taking photos since he was 16. His love of nature developed while working on island resorts taking photos of natures wonderful marine life – Dolphin feeding, Dugongs, Turtles, and the extraordinary Humpback Whales. Karl continued his photography work at Australia Zoo capturing more amazing shots on the whale watching boat as well as all the croc feeding and animal encounters the zoo has to offer.

Joined with his passion of surfing, Karl’s photographic journey has continued and expanded into the water where he discovered his true calling.

Being a good surf photographer is a mix of creativity and technical skills – you need to determine the exact timing to get the best light, tides, winds and swell direction playing the biggest part in getting the best results. However, sometimes photography is about being in the right place and the right time!

To be able to put your body in the middle of nature to capture these amazing images shows how much passion Karl takes to the surf everyday so he can share a side of mother nature most people never get to see.

Karl always has one eye on the weather, looking for the perfect conditions for that next incredible shot! When he doesn’t have a camera in hand Karl is enjoying time with his beautiful wife and family.
